Party time!

Lydia celebrated her 1st birthday in full party style.
We planned a get together at the park in hopes we wouldn't melt in the 100+degree heat by cooling down in the splash pad. The only snag was that the splash pad wasn't working that day. Luckily Lydia had no idea that she was missing anything.
The party was simple: Friends, family, food, gifts and of course, cake!

I made a cupcake cake as the main event, as well as a bunch of cupcakes. We had plenty of food and Lydia had a ball!

Digging in!

She ate it all!
How can you not love this face?

Then, she shared her cake with me.

I was so busy helping Lydia open her gifts, I didn't get many pictures. Here she is on a rocking horse from Grandma and Grandpa Grady.

Along with eating cake for the first time, Lydia's birthday included her introduction to watermelon. She loved it!

Once we got home, the sugar buzz from the cake led to a present craze in the living room.

It was a great day!

It was such a fun party. Perfect for a one year old! So glad we could be there to enjoy the afternoon.

So cute! Love the watermelon pictures - Grandma & Grandpa Petty gave Frankie a rocking horse for his 1st birthday too - must be a Petty thing. :) Happy Birthday Lydia - and congrats to Mom & Dad on surviving the first year!
